Frisco’s newest hospital is making plans to expand its services to accommodate more patients and have a larger footprint within Frisco Square.
Medical City Frisco has doubled its patient volume since opening less than three months ago, hospital CEO Charles Gressle said.
HCA North Texas, a subsidiary of Hospital Corporation of America and Medical City Frisco’s owner, assumed ownership of the hospital in April. The hospital used to be Forest Park Medical Center in Frisco.
“It’s been a very smooth transition that exceeded all stakeholder expectations,” Gressle said. “The city is very excited. The citizens are so excited to have these great services close to home.”
By October, the hospital is expected to expand its emergency room to nine beds, Gressle said. The hospital has also added board-certified emergency room physicians to cover the hospital.
“We’re already seeing a lot of emergency room patients,” Gressle said. “We’re providing those 24/7, board-certified ER physicians; we’re just expanding the capacity.”
By next year, the hospital plans to add cardiovascular services and labor and delivery services.
The cardiovascular services expansion would include adding a catheterization lab and interventional radiology. For labor and delivery services, the hospital will be adding a neonatal ICU and delivery rooms, Gressle said.
In a few years, Medical City Frisco will also expand with a new building.
HCA bought a five-acre tract of land north of the 54-bed hospital for a future expansion. The land is zoned for a building with a maximum of 15 stories.
Gressle said he envisions the hospital expansion would make Medical City Frisco a true full-service community hospital that caters to a growing city, adding that Frisco’s population is expected to increase exponentially over the next few years.
“It’s just a matter of keeping up with the demand and the growth in the market,” he said.
