When Grapevine Lake was created in 1953, there were only a handful of roads that had names listed in records for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the city of Grapevine.

Now, the Grapevine City Council authorized an update to that list to recognize the modern-day names for roads.

The gist

The ordinance will help clarify restricted parking zones, no standing zone and no stopping zones that will align with the name of current roadway names, according to city documents.

No parking zones are to be established within 50 feet of each side of the edge of pavement for the entire length of the roadway. Parking shall be prohibited, except in designated parking areas as constructed by and designated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The list totals more than 30 roads near Grapevine Lake, near places such as Katie’s Woods Park, Lakeview Park, Meadowmere Park, Meadowmere Park soccer fields, McPherson Slough Park, Oak Grove Park and The Vineyards Campground and Cabins.

By the numbers

Illegal parking, if ticketed, can be a fine up to $200, according to city ordinances, Chapter 23.
