What happened
During a May 6 meeting, a contract was approved for $125,000 to O. Trevino Construction for concrete paving repairs at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Park Boulevard, according to city documents.
The repairs by the North Richland Hills business will be done between 8 p.m.-5 a.m., nightly to help reduce impact to travel flow, according to the council memo.
Grapevine Marketing and Communications Manager Mona Quintanilla said no start date for the construction has been decided.
What else?
Due to safety issues, street parking on Kubota Drive from Grapevine Mills Boulevard to the SH 121 southbound frontage road will now be prohibited.
According to a memo to council, the city is dealing with parking situations on the street that are causing visibility issues, as well as ingress/egress problems along Kubota Drive. That road features the Bexley Grapevine apartment complex, as well as the Kubota USA headquarters and Paycom headquarters.
A violation for parking on Kubota Drive now will be a fine not to exceed $200, according to the amended city ordinance. The change became official May 6, but the city is awaiting signs to be installed before the Grapevine Police Department can start giving tickets to offenders, Quintanilla said.
One more thing
This was the last council meeting for Mayor Pro Tem Darlene Freed. She chose not to run for re-election after representing Place 4 since 1998.
Mayor William D. Tate allowed Freed to oversee the meeting and later presented her with a plaque to honor her service to the city.
