The North White Chapel Road widening project in Southlake finished on Aug. 11.

Mayor John Huffman and City Council held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion.

“We’ll finally see some traffic relief,” Huffman said at the ceremony.

The two-lane rural road was upgraded to a four-lane divided roadway. A) Phase 1 included roundabout construction at Highland Street and the widening of White Chapel Boulevard from Hwy. 114 to Highland Street. B) Phase 2 involved paving the widened portion of North White Chapel Boulevard from Emerald Boulevard to south of Highland Street. The project also included the reconstruction of screening walls as well as improvements to the pubic water, sewer and storm systems.

On Aug. 16, Southlake City Council voted to lower the speed limit from 40 mph to 35 mph on North White Chapel Boulevard between Southlake Boulevard and State Hwy. 114.
