TEXRail, the commuter train that travels through northeast Tarrant County multiple times each hour, will celebrate its third year in service next week. The first day of service for the 27-mile rail line was Jan. 10, 2019.

TEXRail runs between downtown Fort Worth to the southwest and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to the northeast, passing through Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake along the way. Its nine stops include Grapevine Main Station as well as two stations serving DFW Airport, including one at Terminal B; two serving North Richland Hills; and four stations in Fort Worth.

Ridership data shows Grapevine Main is one of TEXRail’s most popular stations, and officials for Trinity Metro—which operates the service—and the city of Grapevine remain optimistic about its potential to fuel growth even as the pandemic caused reduced ridership that is still recovering.

In a release from Trinity Metro announcing the milestone for the rail service, it is noted that TEXRail may grow soon to include an extension to the Fort Worth Medical District. A new station is proposed south of Mistletoe Boulevard in Fort Worth near Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center.
