ASK THE EDITOR: What is the latest on Fairway Drive in Grapevine?

Fairway Drive across Grapevine Dam has been closed since August due to a slide at the dam. Construction crews are working on two projects along Fairway. The first is the slide repair located on the downstream side of the dam, and the other is repairs to the road surface and guardrails of Fairway, John Mathney, lead ranger for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Grapevine Lake, said in an email.

Crews are currently working on the slide repair at the dam before focusing on the roadway repairs. The scope of the repair requirements is still being developed, so the total project cost is not known, Mathney said.

The Corps is paying for the slide repair project since the Grapevine Dam is owned and operated by the Corps. Fairway across the dam is leased from the Corps by the city of Grapevine, so the city will pay for the costs to repair the road surface and guardrails.

Fairway should be open again at the end of July, Grapevine officials said.
