FM 1938 Phase 2 widening

Local GCS projects

The $20 million FM 1938 road construction project in Southlake and Keller, from Randol Mill Avenue to FM 1709, is on schedule for completion in the summer. Construction at the FM 1938 and FM 1709 intersection has reached substantial completion with all lanes opened as of Dec. 30. Some daily lane closures can still be expected to finish work in the medians and for placement of permanent traffic signals. North of the intersection, crews continue to reconstruct the new southbound lanes, which includes a new retaining wall located along the west side of the roadway.

SH 114 widening

Local GCS projects

In January, crews are doing startup work on the main lane construction project on SH 114 between Trophy Lake Drive in Trophy Club and Kirkwood Boulevard in Southlake. Work includes excavation in the right of way, milling asphalt, embankment work, work zone striping and setting concrete traffic barriers for the work zone. When complete the project will widen the section of the road from four lanes to six lanes. Currently SH 114 is three lanes wide in each direction until Kirkwood, where it narrows down to two lanes in each direction. The project is intended to help alleviate the bottleneck that occurs when the roadway goes down to four lanes.
