Val Lopez, Texas Department of Transportation public information officer, said work on the FM 1938/Southlake Boulevard intersection in Southlake will be substantially complete by the end of the year.

Lopez said the east- and westbound lanes of the intersection are open for the most part already. After substantial completion, occasional closures will be necessary to finish the intersection, he said.

Work on the intersection is part of the FM 1938 Phase 2 project, which widens the roadway to two lanes in each direction with raised-curb medians. The improvements at the intersection of FM 1938 and Southlake Boulevard will provide dual left-turn lanes in all directions, which are expected to enhance mobility through the intersection.

After the intersection is complete, work will continue north of the intersection on the expansion of the FM 1938 main lanes. The project, which started in April 2015, will be substantially complete by summer 2017.
