"The Neighbors network already has millions of users and has been instrumental in catching package thieves, stopping burglaries, and keeping neighborhoods safe," the police department said in a news release.
Colleyville residents can sign up for the app and use it to monitor neighborhood activity and share crime and safety-related videos and photos. The app also allows users to receive real-time safety alerts from neighbors, law enforcement and the Ring team.
To sign up:
- Text "colleyvilletx" to 555-888 or click here from a smartphone to download the app for free on iOS and Android.
- Opt-in to join your neighborhood.
- Customize the area you want to receive notifications for; users must verify where they are located and cannot participate in other neighborhoods.
Once these steps have been completed, app users can receive real-time alerts regarding crime and safety. A live feed or interactive map shows local crime, and safety posts and photos, text updates and videos can be shared on any device, including Ring's home security devices.
