Nearly 60 businesses and organizations took part in the third annual Career Connection Summit March 29, which was hosted by Southlake Foundation.

The nonprofit provided the event for current high school students to learn from professionals in the fields of medicine, business, technology, hotel service, law, armed forces, journalism, public service and civic organizations at Carroll Senior High School.

Southlake Foundation creates platforms for like-minded people to come together and contribute to the Southlake community, according to its website.

Students had a chance in ask professionals questions about career fields that interested them, such as banking, AI technology, practicing medicine, engineering, insurance sales and working in nonprofit organizations.


Tarrant County Commissioner Precinct 4 Matt Krause, Southlake Mayor Shawn McCaskill and Southlake Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Talley were keynote speakers at the event.

Going forward

The Southlake Foundation will have two more events in April. The first is United We Run with Colors, which will be held April 5 at North Park.

The foundation will also host a job fair for sophomores, juniors and seniors exploring employment and internship opportunities. That event will be at Carroll Senior High which starts at 9 a.m. April 12.
