GRACE CEO Rebecca Cox said the Grapevine-based nonprofit served more than 10,000 individuals during the 2024-25 fiscal year and 2,277 new individuals sought help from GRACE last year.
The nonprofit focuses on helping housing security, health care, hunger relief and special services for children.
Changes this year include opening additional hours and one Saturday a month to help those who may have problem getting off work to come ask for assistance, she said.
Cox provided numbers to show the impact of GRACE through her presentation, stating:
- 613 families found/retained housing
- 893 families paid their electric bills through utility aid
- 5,150 patient visits for uninsured or underinsured
- 704 specialized health care and health education clinics
- 2,890 volunteer hours
- 11,443 shoppers at the GRACE pantry
- 2,545 children whose parents shopped at the GRACE Christmas Cottage
- 36,140 lunches served during summer for those who receive free or reduced lunch in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD
- $988,872 worth of nutrition provided through the GRACE pantry and the GRACE garden
A closer look
Grapevine officials approved a Tarrant County contract with GRod Construction as part of the 49th year of the Community Block Grant street reconstruction project.
The project will have a 30-foot-wide asphalt pavement along Forest Street and Lipscomb Street, connecting to Lucas Drive. The Boyd, Texas-based company will construct curbs, gutters, sidewalks, drive approaches, storm drain systems and provide existing sanitary sewer line upgrades as needed, according to information provided to council.
The total contract is $1.59 million and the city will contribute $1.37 million. The remaining $211,253 will be provided by Tarrant County, according to documents.
City Manager Bruno Rumbelow said the work would start this month.
Also of note
For fiscal year 2025-26, the Grapevine Parks and Recreation Department will replace playground equipment at Banyan Park, Pickering Park and Austin Oaks Parks.
The playground equipment in the three parks is 16 to 17 years old, according to city documents.
Webuildfun, Inc., from Allen, was awarded a contract for $335,749 for the new equipment. No timetable was provided for the installation.
