The town of Trophy Club is planning ahead for purchases of future vehicle purchases and other equipment.

What happened?

Council approved a transfer of $3.06 million from the general fund to be allocated for planned capital expenditures through fiscal year 2024-25 to fiscal year 2029-30 at the May 12 meeting. The total includes $392,200 for the 2024-25 fiscal year, according to documents.

The funding breakdown includes:
  • Police Department: $869,000
  • EMS Department: $732,000
  • Parks & Recreation Department: $765,000
  • Community Development: $199,000
  • Non-Departmental Emergency Fund: $500,000
According to city documents, funds from the police department will be used to replace body-worn cameras, upgrade tasers, and install mobile vehicle barriers this fiscal year. Future years include replacing the drug analyzer and replacing a police motorcycle and two trailers.

Emergency medical services plans to purchase a new ambulance in fiscal year 2027-28 for $450,000. The Parks and Recreation Department would replace two trucks, one in 2026-27 and the other 2027-28 and one of those would be an electric truck. In community development department plans to install an electric vehicle charger for the city fleet in fiscal year 2025-26.


In other news

Town Council approved an interlocal agreement with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office for 911 communications and dispatch service for fiscal year 2025-26 for $58,372, a 2.7% increase of the current cost.

The service fee is caluclated by the town percentage workload and for the 2025-26 fiscal year it is $48,466 for police and $9,907 for the fire department, according to council documents. The contract runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30, 2026.

During the meeting, newly elected council member Garry Ash took his spot on Place 5. Council member Rhylan Rowe was voted Mayor Pro Tem, a role he will have until the next town election in May 2026. Steve Flynn previously held that position.
