Felix Construction Co., based in Richardson, was awarded a contract not to exceed $2.4 million for lift station improvements at Shady Lane and Lonesome Dove.
According to city documents, Shady Lane and Lonesome Dove are the largest of the city’s 13 wastewater lift stations. The work will add emergency backup pumps, generators, as well as upgraded pipes, valves, electrical and SCADA systems to ensure continued service during power outages or emergencies.
Felix Construction had a bid of $2.16 million, the second lowest of the five bids the city received. Red River Construction Co. from Wylie had the low bid at $2.09 million, but Felix was chosen on a best value criteria used by city staff, according to city documents.
Work is expected to start this spring, according to city officials.
In other news
Council approved an addendum to a previously agreed upon contract with RPGA Design Group for design services for the Southlake Municipal Services Center and Public Safety Training Tower.
The original contract approved Dec. 1, 2020, was to not exceed $2 million. The new contract is to not exceed $2.7 million to reflect change in scope of work revision, a change of architect fee from 10% to a flat fee and adjusted subconsultant fees, according to city documents.
Previously the city had awarded a contract for the municipal service center and then Dec. 7, 2021, awarded a separate design contract with RPGA for the public safety training tower.
Now, the projects will be built together at 1630 Brumlow Ave., which was approved by council on June 4, 2024, according to previous reporting.
Also on the agenda
To move ahead with capital improvement program projects, council approved city staff to issue certificates of obligation bonds with a maximum amount of $16.2 million, though the city could issue less, according to a staff memo.
The bonds will be used for projects approved by council at the Feb. 18 meeting, according to previous reporting.
City documents stated council would approve the official amount at the May 6 meeting.
