Trophy Club has two open spots on Town Council but there might not be an election May 3 due to the races being uncontested by the Feb. 14 deadline.

In neighboring Westlake, Town Council has four total positions open for City Council, all of which were uncontested by the 5 p.m. deadline to file Feb. 14.

The details

According to the town of Trophy Club's website, only two candidates have filed for the two seats for the upcoming May 3 election.

In Place 5, Garry Ash has filed to run and is unopposed.

That spot is currently vacant following the resignation of LuAnne Oldham. The former council member resigned because her family was moving out of the city limits.

Incumbent Steve Flynn has filed to seek a second term in Place 6. He is also running unopposed.

Flynn has been Mayor Pro Tem since May 2024 after joining council in May 2022.

If both races are unopposed, Town Council can vote to not have an election.

What else?

The four positions open on Westlake Town Council will also be voted on during the May 3 election.

Candidates for Town Council Places 1, 3 and 5 will see a term limit that runs from May 2025 to May 2027. Town Council Place 2 is also on the ballot and has an unexpired term through May 2026.

Breaking it down

John T. "T.J." Duane filed for the Place 1 position, which is currently held by Anna White. She did not file for reelection, according to the city’s website.

Kevin Smith is the only person who filed for the Place 3 position, which is currently held by Town Council Member Mike Asselta.

Todd W. Gautier and Michael W. Yackira, are the incumbents for Place 2 and Place 4, respectively, and are running unopposed.
