Gov. Greg Abbott issued a $1,272,322 million grant to Tarrant County College to use for job training initiatives, according to a release from his office Sept. 24.

The grant was awarded through the Texas Workforce Commission and supports workforce training to help businesses upskill their new or incumbent workforce.

TWC will work with Cummings Electrical to provide comprehensive training to 630 new and incumbent employees for high-demand jobs via the organization's Skills Development Fund, which is the state's workforce training grant program to help businesses train new and existing employees, according to the release.

“We continue to prepare Texas for the workforce of tomorrow by investing in programs that provide critical training for Texans looking to jumpstart their career in high-demand industries,” Abbott said. “...Through partnerships like this between the Texas Workforce Commission and Tarrant County College, we will continue to train Texans for high-demand, good-paying jobs and build a more prosperous economic future for our state.”
