A portion of the Grapevine’s downtown area was honored at a planning conference in Corpus Christi, according to a city news release.

The midwest section of downtown Grapevine, along South Main Street near the intersection with Dallas Road, was recognized with a 2023 Great Places in Texas award, per a social media post by the city.

According to a list of winners, the area was recognized in the Great Streets category of the awards, which are given by the American Planning Association Texas Chapter. According to the social media post, the awards recognize planning efforts by city staff to create and sustain areas of a city.

“The 2023 Great Places in Texas award is a testament to their efforts to create a lively, livable community that enhances the lives of both its residents and visitors,” Director of Planning Services Erica Marohnic said in the release. “This recognition validates the city's commitment to prioritize urban planning and design, historic preservation, placemaking, and fostering economic vitality while maintaining a small-town feel.”
