A small tract of land in the Entrada area of Westlake is going up for sale through public auction.

Westlake Town Council approved the sale of 0.646 acres of town-owned land—located at 34 Cortes Drive—during the April 1 meeting. The sale will be completed through sealed bids, City Manager Wade Carroll said. Legal notification will have to be run twice, and then the town will have to wait 14 days after the last notification was posted before bringing bids to council.

The details

Mayor Sean Kilbride said the property was for sale in the past, and an offer was made two years ago, but the sale was not completed. The town got an appraisal by Integra Realty Resources, based in Fort Worth, on Feb. 21. The company appraised the land at $900,000.

Carroll said the city still owes about $175,000 on the property.
