Joe Don Bobbitt was hired as the executive director and chief appraiser for Tarrant Appraisal District, according to a news release.

Bobbitt has spent the past four years as the chief appraiser for the McLennan Central Appraisal District in Waco.

The backstory

Former TAD Executive Director and Chief Appraiser Jeff Law resigned Sept. 6, 2022. Law held that role since 2008.

Since that time, William Durham, director of commercial appraisal, has served in an interim role. He will continue in that role until Feb. 1, according to a news release.


TAD hired Mackenzie Eason & Associates to conduct the search for Law’s replacement, according to the news release.

A closer look

Bobbitt graduated from Texas A&M and later served in the United States Army, earning the rank of field artillery captain.

Bobbitt has 13 years of experience in the appraisal industry, according to a news release. He’s sent the last seven years working in Waco, first as the assistant chief appraiser.
