The amendment approved during the Sept. 19 meeting will cover the remaining cost of design for the facility, which was damaged by tornadoes that hit the city last December. During the severe weather, most of the service center was extensively damaged.
In a nutshell
The funding approval allocates a further $817,800 for a design period that is expected to take around 20 weeks, according to city documents. Council ratified a predesign contract with Brown Reynolds Watford Architects in February.
With the newly allocated funds and amended contract, the architecture firm will complete the remainder of the project’s construction and bidding documents. Accounting for the amendment and predesign contract, the total cost of the project to date is more than $1.06 million.
