The Colleyville City Council approved a construction services agreement of $58,043 to repair flooding damage in the library.

At its May 3 meeting, the City Council approved the contract with Calvary Construction to fix flooding damage to the Colleyville Public Library. City Secretary Christine Loven said a disconnected water line to a coffee maker caused damage March 3 to the library’s upstairs kitchenette storage area, the puppet room, the downstairs storage area for the Colleyville Room and the wall directly to the side of the Colleyville Room.

“No library reading or media materials were damaged during this incident,” Loven said.

The city immediately initiated a claim with the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool, according to the agenda item’s memo. The TML Risk Pool assigned Global Risk Solutions Inc. as the independent adjuster, whose first report of loss included over $24,000 in remediation and totaled $56,620.

Colleyville then got a $46,620 check from the TML on March 28, the memo states. The city eventually landed on Calvary Construction’s $58,043 proposal, which was accepted by the TML to supplement the claim.

The cost of the repairs is recoverable through the claim process minus the city’s $10,000 deductible, according to the memo.

With the council’s approval, Calvary Construction began repairs May 4 and expects them to be complete “within two weeks,” the memo states.
