On Monday, Southlake-based Sabre Corp. laid off approximately 9 percent of its existing workforce of 10,000, including the elimination of certain open positions, according to a statement from Sabre. "From time to time we adjust staffing to meet business requirements and opportunities, just like any well-managed company must do," read the Sabre statement. "Over the last several months, we have had an open and ongoing conversation with our customers, employees and investors about our need to prioritize our product offerings and investment strategies." The statement also said the company is a successful and profitable global company with more than $3 billion in annual revenue and worldwide operations. The company said it has plans to continue to hire and grow with a focus on skill sets and needs that reflect business priorities. Sabre is a technology provider. The company's software, data, mobile and distribution solutions are used by hundreds of airlines and thousands of hotel properties to manage critical operations, including passenger and guest reservations, revenue management, flight, network and crew management.
