Matt Foust pulled ahead of incumbent Tammy Nakamura for the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Place 3 position, securing 51.34% of the votes. Unofficial Tarrant County results show Foust's 6,016 votes pushed him ahead of Nakamura's 5,701 votes.
It wasn't until the final precincts reported in Tarrant County that the votes showed Foust moved past Nakamura.
Sean Shope maintained his healthy lead over Brandon Rener, earning the Grapevine City Council, Place 4 seat by 67.34% of the votes with 3,593 ballots cast. Rener secured 1,743 votes, or 32.66%.
Including early voting ballots, there were 98,564 ballots cast in Tarrant County, which represents 7.99% of the county's 1.23 million registered voters.

Shope still leads the total votes in the Grapevine City Council, Place 4 race and Nakamura is ahead in the vote count for the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Place 3 position, according to early results from Tarrant County.
Out of 3,929 voters who cast their ballots in the Grapevine City Council race, 2,677 voted for Shope, or 68.13%. Rener, who is running against Shope, tallied 1,252 votes, or 31.87%.
Nakamura and opponent Foust are in a tight race, with Nakamura securing 4.360 votes out of 8,564 ballots cast, or 50.91%. Foust earned 4,204 votes. or 49.09%.
At this point, 50 of 160 Tarrant County voting centers have reported their vote counts.

Shope took an early lead over Rener with 63.13% of the number of votes, or 2,676 votes total, as the Place 4 seat on Grapevine City Council.
Incumbent Nakamura jumped ahead of Foust with 4,348 votes, or 51.01%, for Place 3 on GCISD’s board of trustees in the preliminary results. Foust has earned 4,175 votes, or 48.99%.
What’s happening?
Shope and Rener were both vying for the Grapevine City Council, Place 4 seat left empty by incumbent Darlene Freed, who announced in January that she would not run for reelection in 2025, according to previous Community Impact reporting. She was first elected to council in 1998 and served for 27 years.
Nakamura was elected by voters to the GCISD, Place 3 position in May 2022 and has served as a past PTA president, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
Foust has served the district in various PTA roles, including as the legislative chair. He also served on the Advisory Committee during the 2024 bond election.
These were the only two contested races in the city of Grapevine and with GCISD; all other council and trustee races were uncontested.
The breakdown
Totals from Tarrant County ballots cast May 3 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
During the early voting period, 63,369 ballots were cast in person or by mail, which represents 5.14% of Tarrant County’s 1.23 million registered voters, according to previous reporting.
