Two candidates are vying for Place 4 in Trophy Club: Garry Ash and Rhylan Rowe. They are seeking the seat to be vacated by current council member Karl Monger.

Candidates were asked to keep responses under 50 words, and to answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents. Answers may have been edited to comply with word count guidelines or for style and clarity.

Community Impact is only asking candidates in contested May 4 elections to answer questionnaires.

Why are you running for office?

I'm running for office because I believe in servant leadership. In a corporate setting, it fosters trust, collaboration and employee engagement, leading to better outcomes. I aim to apply this philosophy to the council, serving our community, listening to voices and building strong relationships.

What are the biggest challenges facing the town?

One of our biggest challenges is improving parks, recreation and thoroughfares. They shape first impressions for new neighbors, friends, and visitors. Examples include broken pool entrance marquees, neglected center strips and lack of tree replacements.

How do you plan to address these issues?

With my background in the U.S. Navy Seabees, I have a “Can Do” approach, and I'll tackle these challenges head-on. I will listen, ask questions and aspire to find solutions. Plus, my 26 years in tech sales will help me negotiate contracts to improve our town while keeping costs down.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

As a member of the town council, my top priorities will be ensuring the safety and maximizing the enjoyment of our community. This includes enhancing first impressions and taking care of existing amenities before pursuing new projects.

Rhylan Rowe

Experience: Trophy Club Town Council, 2014-2019; Trophy Club Planning & Zoning, 2019-present

Occupation: Software executive

Contact Information: 817-266-9850

Why are you running for office?

For almost 10 years, I've had the privilege of serving the community in several roles. Trophy Club is a unique community in DFW and a fantastic place to live. I truly enjoy offering my skills and experience to help keep it that way for my family and fellow residents.

What are the biggest challenges facing the town?

Trophy Club has a lot of natural advantages, and is in a strong financial position. However, we are land-locked and overwhelmingly residential. Because of this, we can't rely on geographical growth or net-new commercial development to offset the cost of providing services to residents.

How do you plan to address these issues?

We will have to be both creative and pragmatic to keep the town on a sustainable financial path. Creativity and pragmatism can sometimes be at odds, but I believe that my leadership experience in both the public and private sector can contribute to our future success.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

Strategic, responsive leadership is required to preserve Trophy Club's place as a unique residential enclave we can all be proud of, and guide it into the future. Keeping the town on a sustainable financial path will always be top priority. We have to employ a business-friendly approach and welcoming branding.
