Positions are open on the Grapevine, Southlake and Colleyville city councils as well as the boards of trustees for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Carroll ISD. The filing period opened Jan. 19.
On Grapevine City Council, places 3 and 4 are both open. Leon Leal serves in Place 3, and Mayor Pro Tem Darlene Freed holds Place 4. According to the city’s website, both Leal and Freed have filed for re-election to their respective seats.
In Southlake, City Council Places 3, 4 and 5 are up for election. Mayor Pro Tem Chad Patton is in Place 3. Ronell Smith holds Place 4, and Amy Torres-Lepp holds Place 5. Smith and Torres-Lepp have filed for re-election to their respective seats. In addition, Shawn McCaskill has filed for Place 3, Southlake’s website states.
Colleyville's mayor and City Council places 1 and 2 are up for election. Richard Newton is the current mayor. He has reached term limits and is not eligible to run again. Tammy Nakamura holds Place 1, and Mayor Pro Tem Bobby Lindamood holds Place 2. So far, Lindamood has filed to run for mayor. No one has filed to run for Places 1 or 2 on council, according to Colleyville’s website.
Places 3 and 4 on the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees are up for election. Louie Sullins in Place 3 and Lisa Pardo in Place 4 have both filed to run for re-election. Alex Howard has also filed for the Place 3 seat, the district’s website states.
On the Carroll ISD board of trustees, places 6 and 7 are up for election. Todd Carlton holds Place 6, and Andrew Yeager holds Place 7. Alex Sexton has filed for Place 6, while Yeager has filed for re-election to Place 7, according to CISD’s website.
Filing for a place on the May 7 general election ballot will close at 5 p.m. Feb. 18, according to the state's election calendar.
The last day to register to vote for the May 7 election is April 7. The first day of early voting in person starts April 25, while the last day is May 3. The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is April 26.
