Local businesses and community members donated the money to the foundation.
“We are giving out much needed money for our school district, delivering over $90,000 thanks to the generosity of this community,” GCEF Executive Director Meredith Martin said in the release.
The details
Some of the funded projects include $5,000 to add modern science and technology material to Timberline Elementary School’s library and $2,500 to purchase equipment for Grapevine High School’s forensics program.
Other grant projects include:
- $115 to purchase headphones for emergent bilingual students at Heritage Middle School
- $1,780 for pre-reading and music skills at Silver Lake Elementary School
- $2,000 for the district’s academic decathlon program
In the 2024-25 school year, GCEF distributed about $43,000 in grants, according to the organization's website. Teachers must apply for grants and have their applications and projects approved by their campus principal.
Looking ahead
GCEF will begin accepting applications for next year’s grants in early 2026, per the release.
