David Johnson’s hiring as the district's new chief financial officer was unanimously approved by the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board Jan. 13.

He served as the assistant superintendent for financial services and operations since 2022 in Carroll ISD and brings with him 20 years of experience in school district finance.

The backstory

According to previous Community Impact reporting, Johnson’s most recent accomplishments with Carroll ISD include:According to a GCISD news release, in addition to his experience in Carroll ISD, Johnson’s previous positions include:
  • Senior officer of budget and finance in Fort Worth ISD
  • CFO for Cleburne and Keene ISDs
Johnson maintains his membership of the Texas Association of School Business Officials and serves on the Accounting and Auditing Advisory Committee. He has also served as a panelist on the Texas Society of CPAs Annual School District Accounting and Auditing Conference.

In addition to his public sector service, the news release states Johnson has served roles in the private sector as a certified public accountant.
