The details
Director of Communications Rosemary Gladden said the district created the website to address issues like the state’s failure to increase per-student funding since 2019, additional state mandates that are not fully funded and continuing recapture payments that districts like GCISD are obligated to send to the state.
Quote of note
“These issues are not unique to GCISD and, as a result, the district has partnered with other school districts which share similar priorities to provide solutions and address issues, which were felt statewide and resulted in school districts, including several in North Texas, ending last school year with deficit budgets or closing schools,” Gladden said.
“These priorities adopted by the GCISD Board of Trustees are supported by the GCISD Council of PTAs and are in alignment with the Texas School Coalition and Fund Schools First.”
