The backstory

During his president’s report at the district's Oct. 21 board meeting, Bryan said these town halls are part of an effort to inform the community about “significant financial challenges we are facing.”

Earlier this year, the district formed the Budget Reduction Action Committee, which is tasked with creating a multiyear plan to address the district’s budget deficits.

“This work is especially critical if the Texas Legislature, in its upcoming 89th session, does not provide the necessary funding to public schools in our state,” Bryan said.

He added the committee is exploring the following potential solutions to sustain the district’s operations:
  • Cost-saving measures
  • Potential revenue enhancements
Quote of note

“These briefings will offer a chance for parents, guardians and all stakeholders to hear directly from us, ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of the financial realities we face,” Bryan said. “It’s important that everyone in our community has the opportunity to be informed and participate in the dialogue.”
