A timeline has been given for several major projects slated at Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club.

In a nutshell

Projects for Byron Nelson’s football stadium, gymnasium, auditorium and cafeteria will be underway in 2025 and 2026 and are expected to be completed by 2027, Northwest ISD Superintendent Mark Foust said during a presentation at the Trophy Club City Council meeting on Oct. 14.

The estimated timelines for all four projects are:
  • Football stadium: Construction will start in the second quarter of 2025 and conclude before the 2026-27 school year begins
  • Gymnasium: Construction will begin in the first quarter of 2026 and be completed by the first quarter of 2027
  • Auditorium: Renovations will start in the second quarter of 2025 and finish by the summer of 2026
  • Cafeteria: Expansion will start in the first quarter of 2025 and end by the fourth quarter of 2026

The expanded stadium will hold about 7,500 people for games and will have a track around the field for University Interscholastic League events. The expansion also includes a new press box in the stands.

The auditorium will have 400 seats added, including a newly built mezzanine balcony.

Foust said during the meeting that the renovations are necessary to fit Northwest ISD’s rapid growth.

“We are adding capacity to each of those four spaces so we can host up to 3,200 students,” he said.

What else?

Byron Nelson’s basketball arena eventually will be expanded for more seating, as well. Foust said the goal is to have roughly 2,800 seats in the arena, which would mean more than 1,000 seats will be added. He said the arena expansion is still in the planning stages.

Foust also stated the traffic will be studied around Byron Nelson’s football stadium during peak times, such as game days, at a later date via a consultation with the city of Trophy Club.

“We want to make sure we get those traffic patterns right,” he said.

He added that residents should expect high traffic after home games on Friday nights.
