The GCISD Walk of Honor selection committee is accepting nominations for the class of 2024 honorees through May 1. The GCISD Walk of Honor recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the district.

The details

According to the Walk of Honor website, each fall, new honorees are recognized at a public event, and a permanent display of all honorees is housed at Mustang Panther Stadium in the Walk of Honor area.

The website states that past honorees include:
  • Linda Tidmore, who spent nearly 50 years in education and served GCISD as a teacher and administrator
  • Marion Brekken, who served on the GCISD board of trustees and was a founding director of the GCISD Education Foundation
  • Bob Burrus, who served on the GCISD school board for six years and was involved in numerous community service organizations
What you need to know

According to the Walk of Honor website, all nominations will be reviewed by the Walk of Honor selection committee. The following must be submitted along with a completed nomination form:
  • A letter of recommendation from the person making the nomination
  • Newspaper clippings, magazine articles or other printed material to substantiate the accomplishments and contributions of the nominee
  • The GCISD Walk of Honor nominees summary sheet is recommended for help in organizing and summarizing information.
