Diving in deeper
There are two ways families may take advantage of GCISD's prekindergarten opportunity: one is state-based pre-K and the other is tuition-based pre-K.
According to the website, students can qualify for state-based pre-K if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Their home language is something other than English.
- They are currently, or have been, in foster care.
- The family meets income criteria.
- Their parents serve in the military.
For those students who do not meet the criteria for state-based pre-K, GCISD also offers a tuition-based pre-K program. Tuition-based programs are offered at all of the elementary schools listed above except for Dove Elementary.
The website states that parents or guardians can contact the district at [email protected] or 817-251-5944 to learn more about the tuition-based program.
