Living Word Lutheran Church in Grapevine will be opening a preschool this fall called Love One Another Preschool.

Chris Anderson is the director of the preschool–which will hold classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings starting the 2023-24 school year at 2031 W. Northwest Highway.

Quote of note

The preschool will be a tuition-free model, something that was a goal of the church, according to Anderson.

“We want to open it to everybody; we don't want anybody to not be able to afford to come,” Anderson said. “And so they [church leaders] thought, let's make it no tuition required. Let's make it so that the parents don't have to worry about cost. That was the different part because we didn't know of any Christian School that had that.”

The background

Anderson has been involved in education since 1975, working as a teacher in public schools in Kansas, as well as principal roles for Lutheran schools in Oklahoma and Hawaii. After retiring, he worked as a special education teacher at Founders Classical Academy in Flower Mound the past six years.

“It was a really, really good experience for me, but this preschool has really become my new purpose,” said Anderson, a native of Junction City, Kansas. “When you feel like God calls you to do something, you don’t say no.”

What you need to know

Anderson said the church is still working through the state licensing but expects to be ready by the time the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD school year starts Aug. 15. The schedule for the preschool will mirror GCISD, meaning the first day of the preschool will be Aug. 16.

There will be room for 45 students the first year that are 3- to 4-year-olds, but exceptions could be made for 5-year-olds that will not be in kindergarten this year, according to Anderson. 817-481-8626 www.loapreschool.com
