Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will provide meals for students age 18 and younger this summer.

It is part of a federally funded summer food service program that will be hosted at Grapevine Middle School and Silver Lake Elementary School. Breakfast and lunch will be served through the end of July.

Dates to know: Grapevine Middle School will serve from May 30-July 28 with the exception of July 4. Breakfast will be from 7:30-8 a.m., and lunch will be from 11:30 a.m.-noon. Silver Lake Elementary Schoolwill serve from May 31-June 30 with the exception of June 19. Breakfast will be from 7:30-8 a.m., and lunch will be from noon-12:30 p.m.

The need: According to the Texas Department of Agriculture, there are nearly 2 million food-insecure children living in Texas.

The conditions: Students will need to select a minimum three components for breakfast and lunch. The lunch meal must include a fruit or vegetable to have a complete meal. The entire meal must be consumed at the serving site. There will be no “to-go” breakfasts or lunches available, according to the district. Menus are available on the GCISD website.
