Grapevine-Colleyville ISD had a budget shortfall in fiscal year 2021-22 due to decreased average daily attendance, or ADA.
District funding is based on daily average attendance, and as a result of COVID-19-related absences, projections indicated a budget shortfall in funding of $2 million, according to GCISD documents.
The Texas Education Agency will make an adjustment to ADA requirements to assist with funding lost to lower attendance rates during the first four six-week periods of the 2021-22 school year, according to the district.
To make the adjustment, the TEA calculated a target percentage attendance rate based on the district's average attendance rate for the first four six-week periods of the 2019-20 school year. That target percentage attendance rate came out to 96.44%, which is higher than the actual attendance rate of 94.76%. As a result, GCISD will receive funding for an additional 180.405 ADA for the first four six-week periods.
