Carroll ISD’s Board of Trustees approved the purchase of various technological equipment and security devices using funds from the 2017 bond during its Feb.1 meeting.

These purchased items are part of the Strategic Planning Committee’s project with Combs Security Consultants to identify placement of surveillance cameras and access control devices. This project will add access control to 78 doors and door sensors to 231 exterior doors across campuses.

The cost of the districtwide access control additions is about $218,518 and will be handled by Nationwide Security Service. Funding would come from the 2017 Technology Bond.

Trustees also learned about the purchase of other items using the 2017 Technology Bond, including multi-line phones, classroom document cameras, cameras and intercom systems for cafeteria delivery and reinstallation of audio video systems as part of the Carroll High School STEAM Bond project.

The total cost of these items comes out to $81,392. According to Randy Stuart, executive director for technology at CISD, none of these individual expenses exceed $50,000, so they do not require board approval.
