Students in many Texas school districts, including Carroll and Grapevine-Colleyville ISDs, experienced technical problems Tuesday while taking State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness tests, state officials said. The Texas Tribune, Community Impact Newspaper‘s reporting partner, reported that Texas Education Agency spokesperson DeEtta Culbertson said more than 100,000 students were taking the test when the problem was noted, but because the disruption was scattered across the state it is difficult to determine how many students were affected. Carroll ISD experienced intermittent connectivity issues Tuesday, SISD spokesperson Julie Thannum said. “Our Testing Coordinator confirmed that the problem was not with our local CISD connections but with ETS—this is the company that provides state assessments to districts in Texas," Thannum said in an email. "All of the students affected were eventually able to submit their responses, and no tests were lost." She said although truly only a few students were affected, an email was sent to parents of students in testing grades explaining the situation. Director of Communications at Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Kristin Snively said students were affected by connection issues for about 34 minutes Tuesday.
