On Monday night the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees approved pay increases to help fill vacancies for some of the lowest-paid staff positions, such as custodians and ground workers.
District staff said upon review of its salaries compared to other area districts, its workers are being paid below the market median, making it difficult for the district to retain and attract employees.
The three increases the administration approved to the pay structure include:
• The minimum pay for the lowest instructional support employees will be increased from $9.60 to $10.50 per hour.
• An increase in the minimum pay from $9.96 to $10.50 per hour will be implemented for the lowest auxiliary employees.
• A 2 percent pay increase will be given to all other ECDC paraprofessionals and auxiliary workers, other than bus drivers. Bus drivers received a pay adjustment in the previous budget year.
The market median pay for custodians is $11.21, $11.15 for nutrition workers and $11.83 for bus monitors.
Current openings for the year include:
• custodial–16
• maintenance—2
• nutrition–14
• Early Childhood Development Center/KidzU–17
• bus monitors–2
These vacancy numbers have been consistent for this year and the prior year.
