iUniversity Prep announced that it is now accepting applications for the spring semester, which begins Jan. 24, however, enrollment is open through early February.
The tuition-free virtual academy is operated by Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, but enrollment is open to any Texas resident in grades four through 12 who meets the school’s eligibility requirements.
“If you’re a parent who’s been thinking that an online, flexible schedule option might be a better fit for your student than your current traditional or home-school option, know that there is still time to make a change for this school year,” said Dr. Kaye Rogers, iUniversity Prep's director of virtual learning. “However, in order to maintain appropriate student-teacher ratios, we have to cut off enrollment once we reach certain levels per grade. So if you think you might be interested, we encourage you to call us sooner rather than later to learn more.”
GCISD opened iUniversity Prep in 2013 as one of only a few online public school options for Texas students. Currently, it is the only online Texas public school that is managed by a Texas school district and Texas teachers as opposed to a for-profit, out-of-state education company.
