Southlake restaurant Stella Ristorante Italiano will be getting a spinoff location in Grapevine.

Owner Paola Pedrignani had a conditional-use permit for Stella Café approved by the Grapevine City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission in a joint meeting June 17.

The passage of the new restaurant, located at 603 S. Main St., Suites 300 and 302, reduces the outside seating request from 30 seats to 17 seats.

Zooming in

The new restaurant will be moving into the former Mason & Dixie restaurant, which was in that location for seven years before closing Dec. 26, 2024, according to previous reporting.

According to her application letter, Pedrignani said this will be a grab-and-go space for authentic Italian street food that will include breakfast, lunch and dinner. There will also be a drink menu for cocktails to-go and a curated drink menu with wine and beer, as well.

No opening date for Stella Café was announced during the meeting.

The background

Pedrignani, a Grapevine resident, has lived in Texas since 2021, according to her presentation. She has 26 years of owning a restaurant, starting with Amaranth Mediterranean Restaurant in Manhattan.

Quote of note

“On one side, I have Central Park and on the other side, I have one of the most beautiful avenues for shopping,” she said of her New York eatery. “So, I feel very at home when I'm surrounded by retail and beautiful shops. That's what I'm accustomed to have. And I think that the fact that the next project is in Grapevine is super exciting as exciting as a restaurant owner.”
