What happened
Brew & Batter owner and operator Christopher Graham bought the store in January 2024 and renamed it Clieu Coffee, which he said this is a “fresh new start” for the downtown Grapevine business.
Clieu Coffee—pronounced like the game Clue—is named after Gabriel de Clieu, a French sea captain who is credited for bringing coffee to America, Graham said.
Graham said people liked the waffles that Brew & Batter served but a revamped menu will provide food options from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“If we just did waffles, I believe it would’ve kept me in a box with limited ability for growth,” Graham said.
The details
The new menu includes limited daily amounts of English breakfast sandwiches as well as avocado toast and breakfast bagels. Graham said there are gluten-free pastries and bread from Pinch of Salt Pasteries & Coffee.
For lunch offerings, the shop offers turkey clubs, Italian sandwiches, Cuban paninis and ham and cheddar paninis.
Graham said coffee is still be a main staple, with will be provided by local coffee company Novel Coffee Roaster. Offerings include a matcha latte, macchiato, espresso, latte, cold brew/nitro, cappuccino, ice tea, hot tea and hot chocolate.
