After sitting empty for more nearly five years, a tenant has been found for the former Steak ’n Shake location in Grapevine.

Pollo Regio submitted a $300,000 renovation for the property with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. As of March 4, a sign for the restaurants have been placed above the front entrance. According to the filing, construction has an estimated completion date of June 28.

Steak ’n Shake closed in 2019, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

The restaurant originated in Monterrey, Mexico, and will serve authentic mesquite-grilled chicken as well as a variety of traditional Mexican-style dishes, such as tortas, flautas and tacos.
