The Capital Grille steakhouse has plans to open a location in Southlake.

During a meeting in December, the council approved the renovation plans and sign changes for the location at 1202 E. Hwy. 114, Ste. 100, which will go into the space of the former Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles.

This will be the fourth location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the Orlando-based company.

“It is a great get for Southlake,” Mayor John Huffman said during the meeting.

Keith Moore, director of real estate development for Darden Restaurants, noted the plan is to open in December 2023, but it could happen in early 2024 if there are construction delays, but said a year would "be the goal."

The location will be 9,306 square feet, and Moore noted the restaurant will get some additional space from spacing changes to The Gents Place Southlake.

According to a plan registered with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the renovations will be $1.8 million. The construction has a start date of June 26, 2023, and an end date of Feb. 2, 2024.

A patio will be added, and three parking spaces will be removed for temporary valet parking spots on weekends. Dennis Killough, director of planning and development services for Southlake, said this doesn’t impact the current occupancy requirement for parking spots, and there will still be 52 spots available.

The council also approved a waiver to allow for three larger-than-permitted signs based on height on the north, east and west sides of the building. www.thecapitalgrille.com
