Whether it’s time for a meal with friends or for a last-minute pickup of cookies, Celebrity Café and Bakery in Colleyville has its customers covered.
The staff at Celebrity Café uses fresh, never-frozen ingredients to produce cakes, cookies, pies, casseroles and more. Most of the items are prepared using the original family recipes that were in use when the first Celebrity Café and Bakery opened in Highland Park in 1989.
“We do every thing made from scratch,”co-owner Brian Livingston said. “We don’t use box mixes.”
Brian and his wife, Brittany, purchased the local chain in 2014 from a private equity firm. There were many problems with the chain, but the Livingstons “wanted to turn it around,” he said.
The cafe is open daily with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Goods from the bakery are on display and available for purchase daily as well.
Brian said one of the cafe’s most popular items is the cranberry chicken salad sandwich. The dish features chicken, apples, dried cranberries, pecans, lettuce and celery served with a honey Dijon dressing. It can come on a selection of different breads: ciabatta, sourdough, wheat, rye, a wrap or a croissant.
There is also an option to order a cranberry chicken salad plate. It features the same chicken salad, but the salad is served atop a bed of spring mix salad.
He said another customer favorite is the chipotle chicken panini. This lightly toasted sandwich features oven-roasted chicken basted in chipotle sauce with provolone cheese, fresh tomato and chipotle mayonnaise.
The bakery makes everything from intricately decorated sugar cookies to handmade pies and elaborate wedding cakes.
The bakery can also create birthday cakes and other special event cakes that feature logos or characters from “whatever is trending,” Brian said.
Brian said no matter what the customer orders, the staff tries to make him or her feel at home.
“Our managers get to know our regulars [as well as] what they want and help take care of them,” he said.
