Open since February 2015, Lucy’s Lot offers a friendly atmosphere, Texas beers and liquors, and local goods in its restaurant.
Gloria Segovia, who co-owns the Grapevine restaurant with her father, Jose “Tony” Segovia, said she is no stranger to the restaurant business. In fact, she has worked in several of her family’s restaurants. Gloria’s mother owns Peace Burger and Baja Grill in Grapevine. The family also owns the Baja Cantinas in Southlake, Watauga, Keller and North Richland Hills.
Unlike the family’s other restaurants, much of the inspiration for Lucy’s Lot came from the Segovias’ experiences visiting restaurants and bars around Austin.
“My dad and I frequent Austin ... and we love the laid-back attitude, the uniqueness of it,” Gloria said. “From their drinks to their menus—it’s well-thought-out.”
Lucy’s Lot offers 12 craft beers on tap, three of which are permanent while the other nine are rotated. Those three are Peticola Velvet Hammer, the Panther Island IPFNA, and Revolver Blood and Honey. Domestic beers and a range of cocktails are also served.
The Gypsy Jamie ($7), which features Tito’s Vodka, St. Elder, fresh grapefruit, lime, Topo Chico and mint, is a popular choice, Gloria said. The TX Bloody Mary ($7) is another crowd favorite, she said, and it is made using Deep Eddy Vodka, Zing Zang, bacon and Oldies.
Gloria said the eatery likes to use products from Texas businesses, such as Deep Eddy Vodka and Western Son.
It also gets its sandwich buns from Village Baking Co. in Dallas and its brisket from Grapevine’s Meat U Anywhere.
The food menu dresses up its staple dishes with a number of options, such as the GVTX Grilled Cheese ($6.59), which features brisket, cheddar and Gouda cheeses, caramelized onions and jalapenos. Gloria said her favorite is one of the eight burger choices, the Juicy Lucy ($5.99).
Gloria’s hope for Lucy’s Lot is that customers will make it their regular place, she said. “We’re your typical neighborhood bar,” she said. “And a lot more people than the neighborhood are starting to figure us out.”
