In November, Colleyville City Council approved a $30,000 economic incentive agreement to keep Costa Vida, located at 5615 Colleyville Blvd., Ste. 390, in Colleyville.
Economic Development Director Mark Wood said with the restaurant's lease coming to an end this year, it was being vigorously pursued by neighboring cities.
"Costa Vida is very important to Colleyville," he said. "It has been a staple in the city for going on a decade, and the business owner has been a great partner for the city to have. Being highly sought after by surrounding cities, the city had to deploy a business retention approach—the economic incentive—to keep them in Colleyville so that residents could continue to enjoy this great restaurant."
As part of the agreement, the Mexican restaurant must stay in Colleyville for at least five years and must use the money for upgrades or renovations. The restaurant plans to perform a complete renovation of the interior in winter 2017 as well as add an additional outdoor patio on the east side of the building.
