A step into Wise Guys Pizzeria will be a step in the right direction of finding your new favorite family hangout. At least, that’s what co-owners Kevin McNamara and Larry McCain hope.

The first Texas-based Wise Guys Pizzeria opened in Grapevine in 2015 after much prayer, McCain said.

The pizzeria was started in Orange, California, by Kevin’s godfather, Tim McNamara, and his friend, Mike Ernst.

Although McCain and Kevin had spent several years working in the food industry prior to opening the pizzeria, they said owning their own business allows them to spend more time with their families and be more in touch with their community.

McCain and Kevin have designated days at their eatery to give back to the community—whether it be helping an area school or helping a couple pay for a mission trip.

“It’s not just about making pizzas,” Kevin said. “It’s about having a bigger purpose and exceeding expectations in our community with our guests and with our employees. “We love our city of Grapevine and look forward to the many years of partnership down the road.”

McCain said Wise Guys is most famous for their pizzas, but the restaurant also serves pasta, appetizers and sandwiches made from family recipes.

McCain said the most popular pizzas are the Godfather—which is made from scratch with red sauce, pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, meatballs, olives, mushrooms, green bell peppers, onions and mozzarella— and the Uncle Ray from Cali pizza that consists of red sauce, alfredo, mozzarella, feta cheese, garlic, bacon, spinach, chicken and Roma tomatoes and is topped with sliced avocado.

There is a build-your-own pizza option as well.

Lunch-sized portions of certain menu items are available at a discount. The eatery, which offers local beers, is the first in Grapevine to be awarded growler filling.

Patrons can opt to fill a 32- or 64-ounce growler with their favorite brew to take home. Pricing on fills varies depending on the brew but ranges from $7.99-$12.99 for the 32-ounce and $14.99-$23.99 for the 64-ounce after purchasing a growler.
