Heroes Park has entered the construction phase and the project is expected to be completed in early 2026, Assistant City Manager Adrienne Lothery said.

The details

According to previous reporting, the park was originally planned to finish in October 2025, but the contract for construction took a few extra weeks to be awarded, which delayed the start, Lothery said.

The city also approved the plan for more enhanced drainage that will help the grass dry out faster after rain.

This addition cost $300,000, according to city documents, and added an extra month to the timeline of completion, Lothery said.

About the project

The park costs $6.4 million with an additional $250,000 spent on six bronze statues of United States military service members from the Randolph Rose Collection in Yonkers, New York, Community Impact previously reported.

The park has taken two years to take shape, with the Heroes Park Committee being established in January 2023. First glimpses of the plans were unveiled in July 2023.

Colleyville council and staff had a small groundbreaking ceremony Dec. 3 to celebrate the occasion.

“It's going to be exciting,” Mayor Bobby Lindamood said. “It'll be a great place for all the community to come together. Right now, we hold our concerts over on the side, and this new edition will actually have a grand stage for our concerts, but all the while honoring our veterans.”
