The overview
The garages would be located at 1801 Industrial Blvd., and 6255 and 6301 Colleyville Blvd., according to city documents.
The luxury garages would be like showrooms where owners can store high-value items such as automobiles, recreational vehicles or any other item they'd like to display in a temperature-controlled, customizable environment.
Thibodeaux proposed four buildings that will hold a total of 49 luxury garage units. Building 1 will be 11,772 square feet with seven garages, while the other three buildings will each be 16,914 square feet with 14 garages.
The storage spaces that already exist in that area would remain.
Zooming in
Residents from The Villas at Oak Pointe spoke during the public hearing, listing their concerns about noise and visual barriers between the garages and the nearby homes.
Thibodeaux said Enki Development had plans of adding landscaping around the garages, including evergreen trees, and that the glass windows along the building will be glazed and the garage doors will be blacked out.
In addition, the property meets the minimum landscape area required by the city and Thibodeaux said he would include landscaping along Colleyville Boulevard and where the garage property would touch the neighborhood.
There will also be an 8-foot masonry fence constructed along the south and east property line adjacent to existing residential properties.
Another concern was the draining, which Thibodeaux said he was still working with the engineer to get in line with city standards.
What else?
Thibodeaux said that the garages would most likely be owned versus leased since nearby residents would prefer to see owned spaces. Currently, Thibodeaux estimates the units to cost $500,000 when owned.
