The details
The church will rezone 2.77 acres of their property from agriculture to village retail so they can build a new office and storage building, according to city documents. The new building will be located at 1007 Church Street, which currently has an office building, two accessory buildings and parking for the church campus.
The buildings residing on that property will be removed to make space for the new office and storage space.
“Our student and kids ministries are growing, well busting at the seams and this project to add an office building would allow us to repurpose our current office space for student ministries,” said Executive Pastor of Operations Zach Towery.
Having a new office building would move the entire church staff under one roof, freeing up space for their ministries to grow, Towery said.
Looking ahead
Towery said he wants to propose the new building plan to Colleyville officials in 2025 and hopes to start construction in 2026.
There is no estimated cost for the project yet and the city has no involvement with funding the project, Towery said.
The backstory
CrossCreek Church changed its name from First Colleyville in 2023 since Colleyville only makes up 23% of the members, Towery said.
"Though it is the largest city represented, we felt that with Colleyville in the name, it was limiting to those who live in neighboring cities," Towery said.
Legally, the church is known as First Baptist Church but it operates as CrossCreek Church through a DBA, or a "doing business as" clause.
