Colleyville City Council discussed constructing a sidewalk and adding storm drainage as part of the Bransford Road Trail Project at the Sept. 4 work session.

The gist

The walking path will be on the west side of Bransford Road, starting at Shelton Drive and connecting Cotton Belt Trail to Colleyville City Park. The sidewalk will be a width of 6 feet and include drainage improvements from Leta Lane to City Park.

The estimated cost of the project is $1.2 million, according to city documents.

Background

The project hit a road bump in 2022 when the City Council rejected all the bids on the project because the bid amounts were too high. This required city staff to reduce the scope of the project, which included decreasing the width of the sidewalk from 10 feet to 6 feet.

The city then executed an agreement with J.S. Ground Engineering for services related to the width reduction and adding drainage improvements.

What’s next?

City staff is waiting for Atmos Energy to relocate a gas line running through the location of the sidewalk.

Bids are projected to begin in March. The project should take four months once construction starts, per city documents.
